Hall of Famer and former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter returned to the Twin Cities on Friday to show his support for the Salvation Army. Carter spoke about an upcoming event he will be a part of that will take place in Eagan this summer.
The event will feature 184 volunteer rappelers who will descend the side of the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel on July 28 and 29. The goal for this event is to raise $600,000, and those interested in participating can learn more at DownForTheChallenge.com. The money is being raised for the organization's housing and homelessness program.
During an interview, Carter graciously discussed his engagement with the Salvation Army, shedding light on the remarkable initiatives the organization has undertaken in recent times. Additionally, Carter offered insights into his reflections on his past with the Vikings and expressed his perspective on their current performance, including his thoughts on standout wide receivers like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Carter spent 16 seasons in the NFL, playing in 234 career games. He is best known for his time with the Vikings, where he played from 1990 to 2001. Carter finished his career as the NFL's second all-time leading receiver with 1,101 receptions for 13,899 yards.
As a member of the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1990s, Carter was a dominant force on the field. He had 10 or more touchdowns in a season six times and led the NFL in receiving touchdowns three times (1995, 1997, and 1999). Carter recorded 70 or more catches in a season 10 times and had 100-yard receiving games 42 times during his career.
When asked about Jefferson, Carter had high praise for the young talent, referring to him as "the best receiver in the NFL". Carter expressed unreserved admiration for Jefferson, emphatically proclaiming him to be an exceptional player and emphasizing that he fully deserves all the accolades and success that come his way.
Carter also spoke fondly about the team's newest addition, receiver Addison. Carter had nothing but good things to say about Addison's performance and expressed his excitement for the future of the team with him on board. He also mentioned how well he thinks Addison will compliment fellow receiver, Jefferson, on the field.
With the support of legends like Carter, Jefferson and the Vikings have a bright future ahead.
